Flock Talk with Krystal

Ring the Roost and let’s talk it through.

If you’ve ever sent me a chicken question in a private message, you know I answer everything that comes my way, and I’m not stopping that. I answer chicken questions that land in my inbox for free every day, and I always will, but sometimes folks need more than a few quick messages back and forth on Facebook.

I know there are a lot of you who’d love to come to a workshop but can’t (whether it’s distance or just life not lining up with a full day away) so this is one way I’m working to fill that gap. Maybe you’re planning your first flock and don’t know where to start. Maybe you’ve got a problem and you’d like to bounce ideas around. Maybe something in your flock has you scratching your head. Or maybe you just want to talk chickens with someone who genuinely enjoys talking chickens.

That’s exactly what Flock Talk is for.

Unlike a workshop (which is more group focused), this time is entirely about you, your flock, your plans, and your questions. Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been keeping chickens for years, we’ll spend the session focused on whatever matters most to you.

Flock Talk is a one-on-one, 30-minute phone call where we work through your questions together. You’ll get my full attention, real answers, and a plan you can actually use. No typing paragraphs on your phone. Just a good, old-fashioned, chat on the phone like folks used to do.

Good Reasons to Book

Flock Talk is a great fit if you…
• Have a question that’s too complicated for a few messages.
• Have several questions you’d like to ask at once.
• Want help thinking through a decision before you make it.
• Are planning your first flock or expanding your current one.
• Live too far away to attend a Feathered Fundamentals workshop, or life at home makes it difficult to set aside a day to travel.
• Want personalized guidance without waiting for the next workshop.
• Want another perspective on flock management.
• Would rather have a conversation than type back and forth.
• Just want to talk chickens with another chicken person.
• Are still deciding if chickens are right for you and want to talk it through before committing.

How It Works

1
Fill out the intake form below, including the topic you’d like to discuss and any details about your situation, questions you have, or things you’ve already tried. The more information you can provide, the better I can prepare for our conversation.
2
Choose your preferred appointment time using the scheduler below the form (weekday mornings, 9:00, 10:00, or 11:00).
3
Send payment by e-transfer to reserve your appointment.
4
I’ll call you at your scheduled time.

Sessions are scheduled for 30 minutes. If we’re in the middle of finishing up a thought and I have time available, I may be able to stay on a little longer at the end if my schedule allows.

What This Is

• A real conversation about your specific situation.
• Practical advice based on my own experience keeping chickens and teaching new chicken keepers.
• Help narrowing down what health issues you might be dealing with, and talking through general care and over-the-counter options where appropriate.
• Help working through options, thinking things through, and deciding on reasonable next steps.
• A chance to ask follow-up questions and explore the details that often get missed in quick messages.
• Time dedicated to you and whatever it is you’d like to talk about.

What This Isn’t

• A medical consultation. I’m not a veterinarian, so I can’t formally diagnose illnesses or prescribe medication.
• A fit for emergencies or same-day concerns. If your bird is seriously ill, injured, or needs urgent medical attention, please contact your veterinarian right away rather than booking a call.
• A guarantee I’ll have every answer. If something comes up that’s beyond my experience or comfort level, I’ll tell you honestly, and if I think it’s time to involve a veterinarian, that’s exactly what I’ll recommend.

Topics we can cover

Getting Started Caring for Chicks Adult Flock Care Breed Questions Behavior & Flock Dynamics Coop Design & Troubleshooting Biosecurity General Chicken Health Illness Prevention Supportive Care Predator Prevention Local Resources

Please note: Flock Talk is designed around one main topic or situation so we have enough time to actually dig into it. If you have several unrelated questions, mention that when booking and I’ll help you decide if one session is enough.

Before Your Session

The more information you can share ahead of time, the more productive our conversation will be. To make the most of our time together, please include as much detail as possible when booking. A little preparation beforehand means we can spend our session focusing on solutions rather than gathering background information.

If your question involves something that’s easier to see than describe (an injury, a coop layout, droppings, parasites, or anything visual), feel free to send photos or videos before your appointment so I can review them beforehand. If you like taking notes, have a notebook handy.

After you book

• Once payment is received, you’ll receive confirmation of your appointment.
• At your scheduled time, I’ll call the phone number you provided.
• If something unexpected comes up on my end and I need to reschedule, I’ll let you know as soon as possible.

Flock Talk Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

Flock Talk appointments are reserved specifically for you. Because each session holds a dedicated time slot on my calendar, I have the following cancellation and rescheduling policy in place.

Cancellations

• Cancellations made with at least 24 hours notice are eligible for a refund.
• Eligible refunds will be sent by e-transfer to the email address provided when booking.
• Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice are not eligible for a refund, as that appointment time was reserved specifically for you and may not be able to be filled by another client.

Rescheduling

If you need to reschedule your Flock Talk session, please let me know as soon as possible.
• Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be transferred to one future Flock Talk appointment scheduled within the following 2 weeks.
• Additional rescheduling is not available, as appointment times are reserved specifically for each person.

No-Shows

• If you don’t answer on the first call, I will try to reach you again 5-10 minutes later. If there is no answer on the second attempt, I will consider the appointment a “no-show”. Please book a time when you’ll be available to answer your phone.
• Missed appointments without notice are not eligible for a refund or transfer.
• If something unexpected comes up, please reach out as soon as you can. I understand that life happens, and I will always do my best to work with you where possible while keeping appointments fair for everyone.

Thank you for understanding and respecting the time set aside for your Flock Talk session.

To My Feathered Fundamentals Family…

If you’ve attended a Feathered Fundamentals workshop, you already have free messaging access with me through our Facebook group – that will not change and you are always welcome to message me for help there at no charge. Flock Talk is simply another option for those times when a conversation is easier than messages.

Why I Do This

I genuinely enjoy helping people become more confident chicken keepers. Sometimes that’s through a workshop, sometimes it’s through a quick Facebook message, and sometimes it’s simply by sitting down for a one-on-one conversation.

If that’s what you need, I’d love to hear from you.
